Today marks the 40th wedding anniversary of my amazing Mum and Dad!

They are two of the most colourful, creative, funny, adventurous, encouraging, passionate, curious and unique individuals you could possibly meet. They have always loved me unconditionally and despite their very different and yet similarly, repressed upbringing, they have always encouraged my sister and I, to be who ever we wanted to be in the world.

In a time where it became acceptable to leave a relationship when it didn’t work, my parents did the opposite and often fought their way through what seems like years of our lives. Whilst we had an extraordinarily adventurous and unique child hood, there where also many, many tough years and it took a considerable chunk of my adult life to work through the impact of their choosing to stay and battle out the dark stuff, on our behalf.

However, as a nearly 40-year-old woman, now looking at these two amazing individuals, who are just as funny, charming and inspiring as the always where, who have shaped their own unique relationship that, as all relationships do, hits the odd storm cloud, but on the deepest level, still comes from a place of enormous love and respect for each other.

To my gorgeous Mum and Dad, I am very, very grateful, respectful and in all honesty in awe of the 40 Year adventure you have shared so far… thank you for all that you are individually and as the exceptional dynamic duo, you become, as one.

Loving you from afar …..

What a beautiful story to share on Valentine’s Day!
No, I’m not going nuts! We actually celebrate Valentine’s Day on June 12th here in Brazil, unlike the rest of the world…
This is real life romance, and it’s inspiring to know that it’s possible for 2 individuals, who can be different in some (or many) aspects of their lives, to stay together for such a long time when they have a common objective.

That is so wonderful, married for 40 years! Despite some rough seas, their marriage was based in love and mutual respect (unlike some) which is the reason they made it to where they are. I deeply admire couples who truly love each other and stick it out during the hard times instead giving up, so Happy 40th Anniversary to your gorgeous & amazing parents!

Oh, wow! Congratulations to them! I hope they do something adventurous to celebrate! My aunty and uncle celebrated their 30th anniversary today :) . My parents split after about 31years marriage. Sadly they are just two very different people, coming from very hard upbringings and even though they had 4 children and after years of unhappiness they tried counselling, but to no avail. I much prefer them to be apart though. Myself, been married 12 years and as much as we’ve had tough times, my goodness i love that man more and more everyday!

It is obvious your parents taught you to:  persevere, endure, love and stay positive in the face of adversity.  It shows in your amount of strength you’ve manage to muster and in your inspirational outlook.  Hats off and Happy Anniversary to them.  Job well done!

As far as I can realise, throw your words, what an amazing people your parents are! Just want to congratulate them as one either as two, and wish all the best for them and for those they love ;0)
When you describe them as “colourful, creative, funny, adventurous, encouraging, passionate, curious and unique “, is like I was reading about your self….. you too are one fantastic human being! Be proud of all of that….
