On the 23rd July, 2012 $302, 810.00 was raised to fund the completion and distribution of the Be Here Now documentary. Thank you to everyone for your extraordinary generosity, love and support.

I don’t really have the words in this moment, but please know that all of you have been a huge part in fulfilling my beautiful husbands legacy and life time desire to make a difference. The crazy part in all of this is that through out Andy’s life , he never ever knew that just by being himself, he was enough. Until it was nearly time to go and there was nothing left to hide, he finally blossomed into the extraordinary man that I always, always saw, staring at me through those incredible blue eyes.

Thank you again from me and the littles and please don’t stop making a difference where and whenever you can……..

  • Faye

What a beautiful man he was . I’m so glad to be a part of the funding and know that the end result will be half heartbreaking, half uplifting and completely inspirational . Blessed be to Andy and his amazing legacy.

I am so proud to be a part of such an extraordinary documentary that will provide a sense of understanding to all of those who are going through a similar situation or for those with loved ones going through such a terrible disease.  What pleases me the most is to see that we, the fans of Andy, made this documentary a go!  My heart and prayers go out to you and your beautiful angels who are the prime example of strength and grace, to continue on this wonderful journey of self-discovery and of moving forward.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you for allowing us, as well as the wonderful people a part of this film, for allowing us to help.  God Bless!

Thank you Vashti, for being who you are and letting us into yours and Andy life, even before BHN. You are one remarkable, strong, caring, giving, loving woman and you have not only made Andy proud by all you have done, but you have also made all of us so proud to know you and all you have accomplished thus far and we are so excited to see what the future holds. Take a moment and breath, have a little chat with Andy, cry, it’s ok to cry, only makes you human! Andy is smiling and he will ALWAYS be with you & the littles. I am so honored to have witnessed all of this, both you and Andy have truly changed so many people’s life and their way of thinking, living and I am PROUD to say, I am one of those people. Blessings always, Patti xx <3

Dear Vashti, I am just another very small part of your wonderful team who has donated to Andy’s cause and I am so proud to have been able to add a little to the fantastic total to date.
I have read all of your postings and I too feel that you have been very brave to allow us to read your thoughts.  There is something beautiful in the photos that I have seen of Andy……it is there in his eyes.  Yes they are a stunning blue but beyond that you can see a loving soul deep inside.  You have so many people sending loving, kind thoughts to you and your littles.  Take care of yourselves and I look forward to more reading of your thoughts.  Much love and best wishes to you.  Jan XXXXXXXXX

  • Julie Morrison

So glad to have helped towards the doco. Andy was a special man but, I have no doubt, that a lot of what he was was because of you.

  • Rivke

Allowing us to be part of something bigger than ourselves, something that for most of us is outside our daily lives, to be able to play a small role in getting Andy’s story and awareness about NHL out there, it is we who thank you and the littlins and Lilibet and importantly Andy.

Ppl can go their whole lives without being so touched and inspired to, not only, help someone else in their dreams and goals but not inspired to chase down their own. Through Be Here Now and everyone involve and through this blog Vashti, there are so many of us who are standing up and being present in our own lives, and who are making our dreams come true rather than sitting around waiting for them to fall into our lap.

It is just so horrid that it took the loss of such an amazing human and finding you to make me wake up and try and make every day count.  But in his loss and following your  journey so far on here, it gives me the strength to keep fighting and keep making a difference in so many aspects of my life.

    Thank you and Blessed Be!!

We have done this thing because it is just what he wanted…Love demands Love…<3

Dear Vashti, I woke up early this morning and saw there was only 3hrs to go, so gave my donation to this cause.  I’m from england and the spartacus series has just been shown on Sky 1.  I wanted to know what the new series would be like so I searched online… much to my dismay it was not Andy, so I investigated further and learnt that Andy had lost his life to NHL last year.  This deeply saddened me to the point of a heavy heart…. which you must still feel…. My fiance & I are both at a similar age (I will be 38yrs old on thursday this week) and it really has brought things home to me about how life is so short.  We marry on the 29th and this is much looked forward to….
Today I went to our shoppoing centre and found that Kenzo have brought out a new fragrance, which the advert was a women with butterflies all over her shoulders and hair, they had little butterflies as clips, I picked one up and then remenbered that I was having little butterflies in my bouquet of flowers and in my fiances button hole…. this again reminded me of what I had read about Andy and the butterflies… beautiful…..
I was glad to see when I got back that you had got the backing and the funding to make the documentary and it is a true honor to be a part of its making….. All the best and will keep an eye on what is happening along its journey and the final Chapter that needs to be told about Andy’s story…..

  • Elena

Oh, Vashti, your words have made me cry… “he never ever knew that just by being himself…”
I’m very happy that this is going on, you deserve it, you and your beautiful family.
Thank you for allow us to be a part of it.
    Have a very big hug!!

Vashti you have so much to be proud of, to have supported Andy and let him pursue his life journey with so much love and support from you and the kiddies backing him all the way.  May his star shine bright forever and his wings always fly with amazing grace!  and to Andy’s parents…..thank you for nurturing an amazing angel!!!    :)    Many blessing to you all…   xxx

I wish I had the right words to respond to you. My heart is full.  You probably wouldn’t believe the things that have been brought into my life because of Andy and now you. It’s been extraordinary to be a part of such a beautiful event..one in which to be proud. I wish I could reach through the screen and all you Whitfields so since I cannot, feel hugged and embraced. ((((HUGS&EMBRACES)))

I am so happy the funding exceeded expectation!  With the awareness this will bring to cancer, I hope it will answer the question Andy voiced in the trailer of BHN of how do you cure something you do not know what caused it.   Andy is heartbreakingly missed, but his willingness to be transparent in the midst of his journey will continue to affect people for years and years to come.  Well done Andy!   Little did he know that he would affect so many in this world by simply being who he was, an extraordinary man, an awesome husband and a fantastic man.

    I will miss him.

I think the most amazing and beautiful thing in all of this is how 5,265 people made this happen all for a man they never met.  Most, if not all of them, never shook his hand, never laughed at one of his jokes, never knew who he was as a person.  Most of us only knew him as Spartacus, 13 episodes of his talent.  Sure, he had “Gabriel” and “The Clinic” but he was our Spartacus.  Thirteen episodes in which he gripped our hearts, pulled us into his story and connected with us, genuinely connected.  He poured his heart and all that he was into those thirteen episodes and people fell in love with him.  Enough so that they gave generously of themselves to help see his dream fulfilled.  I think it speaks to the incredible person he was, his passion, his courage and his ability to touch the lives and hearts of others, inspire them, through his art.  That is a gift.   He gave to others, now they celebrate his life by giving back.  I am honored and humbled to have been able to be apart of something so important, so inspiring, so human.  Thank you for inviting us.

Congratulations.  BHN is on its way to being born, and will live its own life.  God bless and good luck to you and your little ones (please don’t Ebay them, not even when they are teenagers HA).  I have enjoyed your writings very much, you definitely have a book inside you.  Will send the occasional prayer your way.  Enjoy your life and live well.

    Vashti,
The words thank you are never going to be strong enough. Thank you for never letting the beautiful  light that is Andy’s legacy burn brightly. I do not stop by as much as I would like to, but every time I do you amaze me, not just by being so generous with your time, but also with you memories. I want you to know Andy will always be a hero to me. I don’t say that lightly, he had a grace that will never be matched and will continue to inspire so many to live life as if there is no tomorrow. May you and your beautiful children always be blessed and know how loved you are. I was so glad to be part of Andy’s last wish thank you for letting it happen. Much love and respect ~ Nora

I can’t put into words what I’m feeling right now, but Trisha and Penny (and everybody) have said beautiful things with I totally share.
I haven’t got too much but I wanted to contribute to this awesome project as soon as I knew about it. I feel very honored to be a part of this. I still don’t know if I will have the guts to watch it, but I’m happy I’m a part of it in some tiny way.
I really hope Spain is among the countries where hopefully it will be shown.
I’m sure Andy is smiling wherever he is now. We all have fullfiled his dream. I didn’t know him personally but he might have something that made us all love him so much. We all love you too, Vashti, and your kids. I feel like Jesse and Indi are my little nephews from far away. I feel connected to the three of you in some way.
Thank you for being the way you are and for sharing your life with us. I love you.
